What Is a Strategic Plan for Policing? A Strategic Plan is a legislatively required document prepared and approved by the Board that establishes the priorities, objectives, and direction for policing in London over a multi-year period. It is the document that sets the direction for how policing is delivered in our community for years to come. It serves as the framework for the Chief of Police to manage day-to-day operations. The plan is grounded in community input, meaning your voice directly shapes what the police service focuses on and how resources are allocated.
Why Does Your Input Matter? Effective policing is built on community trust and shared priorities. The Board cannot develop a meaningful Strategic Plan without understanding what London residents experience, value, and need from their police service. Your feedback helps the Board identify the right priorities, whether that’s public safety, community partnerships, equity, or innovation and ensures the plan reflects the full diversity of London’s communities. Your experiences and ideas will directly inform the next Strategic Plan for Policing.
What Happens at This Forum? This Community Consultation Forum is your opportunity to share your lived experiences and expectations for policing in London, whether it’s a short chat or a more in-depth roundtable discussion. You will be asked to share your thoughts on community safety priorities, current policing strengths, areas for improvement, and the values that should guide the police service. All input will be reviewed and considered in developing the next Strategic Plan.
As we recognize this bicentennial year, it is also an opportunity to reflect on how public safety and community governance have evolved alongside the city we all call home.
Over the past year, the London Police Service Board advanced key public safety priorities, strengthened its governance foundation, increased visibility of Board initiatives, and supported an accountable and transparent approach to oversight.
The London Police Service Board is committed to building a police service that reflects, respects, and includes the broad diversity of the community, embracing all identities, experiences, and perspectives.
