The London Police Service Board has appointed Ryan Gauss as Chair and Nancy Branscombe as Vice Chair for the remainder of the 2025 term.
London, ON – Following the recent resignation of former Chair Ali A. Chahbar for personal health reasons, the London Police Service Board has elected Ryan Gauss as Chair and Nancy Branscombe as Vice Chair to lead the ongoing oversight of policing in the City of London for the remainder of the 2025 term. The election was held at the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on May 15th, 2025, and will ensure continuity of leadership and the effective functioning of the Board.
Born and raised in London, Chair Ryan Gauss brings extensive experience in public administration and a strong commitment to public safety to this role. Chair Gauss expressed his intention to build on the significant progress made under Mr. Chahbar’s leadership, which includes securing a historic budget increase, bringing new progressive leadership into the organization, ratifying a collective agreement that safeguards the wellness of our members, and initiating a governance and modernization plan to improve how the Board fulfills its mandate to the community.
“The Board thanks Ali for his service and community-focused leadership. We will continue his path to enhance public safety and advance meaningful operational and cultural reform. This includes ensuring that the LPS is equipped to meet the needs of our community by building a Service that reflects the diversity of our community,” said Chair Gauss. “I am honoured and humbled by my colleagues’ confidence in me to lead during this critical moment.”
Vice Chair Branscombe, who has served on the Board since March of 2022, is a leader in governance who dedicates her time to supporting the community. As a former City Councilor, Vice Chair Branscombe led the Service Review of the City of London and has served at various times on local boards, including her current tenure as Board Chair for the Forest City Film Festival and the Forest City Youth Film Festival. “This is a pivotal time for police governance,” said Vice Chair Branscombe. “We are proud of the steps taken to improve public safety in this City but acknowledge that much work is still ahead. I am grateful to be elected as Vice-Chair of the Board today. I am confident that the strong positive working relationship between the Board, Chief Truong, and the LPS Leadership Team will keep us moving to modernize the Service and achieve our ultimate goal of a safer London.”
The Province is currently taking steps to fill the vacancy.
The Board looks forward to continued collaboration with the London Police Service and community partners to advance public safety across the City.
