London Police Service Board

London, ON – The London Police Service Board (the Board) is pleased to announce a one-time $1.5 million adjustment to its operating budget, reducing the tax levy impact while maintaining effective service delivery. This move reflects the Board’s ongoing efforts to manage costs responsibly while fulfilling its legislated duty of ensuring public safety.

In March 2024, the Board secured a historic increase to the London Police Service (LPS) budget, marking the most significant investment in local policing in London’s history after years of chronic underfunding. This investment has already supported hiring more officers, implementing new technologies, and improving member training. As a result, the community has experienced notable improvements in key policing metrics, such as faster response times and a reduction in violent crime.

In May 2025, after discussions with Mayor Josh Morgan and Budget Chair Elizabeth Peloza about opportunities for efficiencies, the Board requested and received a high-level summary from the LPS of potential savings. Several measures have since been implemented to reduce costs and ease the burden on taxpayers, without compromising police response or community safety.
As the Board continues to balance efficiency with accountability, it reaffirms that community safety will never be compromised. Any adjustments made are intended to reduce the tax burden while maintaining the essential services residents depend on.
